**Gabrielle Mary Antonia Hoffmann**, widely known as **Gaby Hoffmann**, is an iconic American actress who made her film debut in *Field of Dreams* (1989). She found significant success as a child actress in *Uncle Buck* (1989), *This Is My Life* (1992), *Sleepless in Seattle* (1993), and later as a teenager in *Now and Then* (1995), *Everyone Says I Love You* (1996), *Volcano* (1997), *All I Wanna Do* (1998), and *200 Cigarettes* (1999). After stepping away from the industry, Hoffmann returned in 2007, earning critical acclaim in various independent projects. This included her roles in *Crystal Fairy & Magical Cactus* (2013), *Obvious Child* (2014), *Wild* (2015), and *C'mon C'mon* (2021). She also made her mark on television, playing April in the FX series *Louie* (2012), Caroline Sackler in the HBO series *Girls* (2014–2017), and Ali Pfefferman in the Amazon Prime series *Transparent* (2014–2019), which earned her three Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Born to actor parents in New York City, Hoffmann was raised by her mother at the Chelsea Hotel after her parents separated shortly after her birth. She attended school in Manhattan and Los Angeles before studying literature and writing at Bard College. Over the years, Hoffmann starred in commercials, theatre in New York, and several films to both support her family and pursue her passion. Some of her memorable roles include starring as Young Samantha in *Now and Then* (1995), the childhood counterpart to Demi Moore's character. She also starred in her own sitcom, *Someone Like Me* (on NBC), about a young girl, Gaby, and her dysfunctional family, which generally received positive reviews. Later in her career, she sought more diverse experiences such as interning with a chef in Italy and training to be a doula. During her acting career, she also worked with renowned actors like Kevin Costner, Tom Hanks, and Mel Gibson. Even after stepping away from the limelight to focus on her studies and personal life, Hoffmann made a significant impact through her return to acting, demonstrating her unparalleled dedication and talent in the industry.
