Harvey Keitel is an American actor known for his portrayal of morally ambiguous and "tough guy" characters. Born on May 13, 1939, in New York City, he rose to prominence during the New Hollywood movement and is most recognized for his long-running association with director Martin Scorsese, starring in six of his films. Keitel has won numerous awards and has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Mickey Cohen in Bugsy. His filmography includes roles in Reservoir Dogs, Bad Lieutenant, and Pulp Fiction, among others. Apart from acting, Keitel has studied under both Stella Adler and Lee Strasberg and at the HB Studio, which led him to land roles in several Off-Broadway productions. His career milestones include roles in three films directed by Wes Anderson and being a co-president of the Actors Studio, alongside Al Pacino and Ellen Burstyn.
