Hayden Szeto

Hayden Chun Hay Szeto is a Canadian actor of Hong Kong descent, impressively known for his leading role as Erwin Kim in the brilliantly received comedy-drama film The Edge of Seventeen (2016). In 2017, he further cemented his talents, portraying the character Ken Luang in the NBC popular comedy series The Good Place. Szeto was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he was raised in Richmond, hailing from a family rich with artistic talent. His father, Nigel Szeto, is a well-rated painter, while his paternal grandfather, Kei Szeto, was a revered Chinese sculptor, and his great-grandfather Szeto Mei established a reputation as a notable poet. Educationally, Szeto studied sociology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. After this, he graduated from the New York Film Academy's Acting for Film program in 2011, embarking on an successful acting journey. In 2016, Szeto's acting career took a breakthrough turn. He landed a role playing Erwin Kim in Kelly Fremon Craig's coming-of-age comedy-drama The Edge of Seventeen sharing the screen alongside the talented Hailee Steinfeld. Subsequently, he also made an appearance in two episodes in the second season of NBC's comedy series The Good Place, interestingly portraying a Buddhist monk named Ken Luang. On May 24, 2017, Szeto's talent continued to garner recognition as he was cast as Brad Chang in the Blumhouse supernatural thriller film Truth or Dare. The film was successfully showcased in theaters on April 13, 2018. This broad spectrum of versatile and delightful performances champion Szeto's credentials as a noteworthy performer.
