Hilary Duff

Hilary Erhard Duff (born September 28, 1987) is an American actress, singer, author, and businesswoman. Duff started her acting career at a young age and quickly became labeled a teen idol after her character in the Disney Channel series, Lizzie McGuire (2001–2004). She then appeared in numerous mainstream films and later emerged into the music scene, leaving a significant mark in the industry. Her debut album, Santa Claus Lane (2002), through Buena Vista Records, and followed by Metamorphosis (2003), peaked the Billboard 200 chart. She enjoyed commercial success with her subsequent albums and her record sales are estimated at 15 million. She has also co-authored a trilogy of novels, starting with Elixir (2010), and ventured into business with various fashion lines and investments. In recent years, Duff starred in TV Land's original series Younger, (2015–2021), was one of the major characters in the Hulu sitcom How I Met Your Father (2022–2023), and was known for her philanthropic activities. Born on September 28, 1987, in Houston, Texas, Duff was raised between Houston and San Antonio due to her father's convenience stores located in these areas. Encouraged by their mother, both Hilary and her sister enrolled in acting, singing, and ballet classes at an early age, which perhaps shaped her multi-faceted career later on. The siblings had roles in local theater productions and eventually moved to California in 1993.
