Isela Vega Durazo (5 November 1939 – 9 March 2021) was a renowned Mexican actress, singer-songwriter, and filmmaker, known for her vivid presence in the film industry. In 1957, Vega was declared the 'Princess of the Carnival' in Hermosillo and soon after began her journey in modeling. Starting her illustrious acting career in 1960, she became known for her role as Elita in Sam Peckinpah's 'Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia'. She also showcased her songwriting talent in the film by penning the 'Bennie's Song'. Notably, she posed for the Playboy magazine's July 1974 issue.
Over her career, she won five Ariel Awards, some of which included recognition for performances in 'La Viuda Negra' (1977), 'Herod's Law' (1999), and 'Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia' (2017). Throughout the 1980s, Vega ventured into film production, direction, and writing. She also sang songs 'Amanecí en tus brazos' and 'El Siete Mares' for the 1986 film 'Gringo mojado'. In total, Vega participated in 150 movies, leaving an indelible mark on Mexican cinema. She passed away from metastasis in Mexico City on March 9, 2021, at the age of 81.
