What's After the Movie
**Jonathan Michael Majors** (born September 7, 1989) is an American actor, acclaimed for his work in drama films and HBO horror series. Rising to prominence with The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019) and Da 5 Bloods (2020), Majors also received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Lovecraft Country (2020). His career highlights include lead roles in western The Harder They Fall (2021), war film Devotion (2022) and antagonist Dame Anderson in the sports film Creed III (2023). He left a memorable imprint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) by portraying Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), and appearing as different variants of the character in the Disney+ series Loki (2021–2023). However, Majors’ career took a downturn in 2023 due to an assault conviction leading to the termination of future involvement with the MCU. Born and raised in Santa Barbara County, California, Majors spent his early years with his pastor mother, older sister, and younger brother on the Vandenberg military base. Despite his troubled teenage years and difficult upbringing, Majors found solace in the world of theatre and aspired to create an inspiration for others. After completing his education at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Yale School of Drama, Majors secured his first onscreen role in When We Rise (2017). He achieved prominence through the film ‘The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019)’ for which he received an Independent Spirit Award nomination. He garnered wider notice for portraying a lead character in Lovecraft Country. He lost numerous projects following a harassment and assault conviction in 2023.
