Josh Charles

Joshua Aaron Charles, born on September 15, 1971, is a widely recognized American film, television, and theater actor. Charles started his acting career in comedy at the modest age of nine and transitioned to more significant roles over time. He distinguished himself in his roles as Dan Rydell on Sports Night, Will Gardner on The Good Wife, Knox Overstreet in Dead Poets Society, and Bryan in Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. His impressive portrayal in The Good Wife earned him two Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

Born in Baltimore, Charles is the son of Allan Charles, an advertisement executive. He identifies as Jewish on his father's side. He spent his teenage years attending Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Center during the summer and later joined the Baltimore School for the Arts. He made his film debut in 1988 with Hairspray by John Waters. Following that, he nestled himself with roles in films such as Pie in the Sky, Muppets from Space, S.W.A.T, and Four Brothers. On television, he received a Screen Actors Guild nomination for his role in Sports Night. Throughout his career, he has also turned to the theater, headlining a production of Confrontation and appearing in a revival of The Distance from Here. Personally, Charles married author and ballet dancer Sophie Flack in 2013, with whom he has two kids - a son and a daughter.
