Kate Garry Hudson, born on April 19, 1979, is an American actress and singer who has achieved significant recognition including a Golden Globe Award and a nomination for an Academy Award. Born into a family of entertainers including her mother, actress Goldie Hawn and father, singer Bill Hudson, Kate would pave her own unique path into acting. She made her film debut with the 1998 drama Desert Blue and climbed to fame as Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe's musical drama Almost Famous in 2000. Throughout her career, she's had a host of roles in romantic comedies like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003), You, Me and Dupree (2006), among others. She has also taken up roles in TV shows like Glee (2012-2013) and Truth Be Told (2022). In addition to acting, Hudson co-founded Fabletics, a fitness brand, and is the author of books Pretty Happy: Healthy Ways to Love Your Body (2016) and Pretty Fun: Creating and Celebrating a Lifetime of Tradition (2017). In 2024, Kate Hudson released her debut studio album, Glorious.

Kate Hudson was born in Los Angeles, California to parents Bill Hudson and Goldie Hawn. Hudson’s parents divorced when she was 18 months old. She and her older brother, actor Oliver Hudson, were raised in Snowmass, Colorado, and Pacific Palisades, California, by her mother and her mother's longtime boyfriend, actor Kurt Russell. As a teenager, Kate would graduate from Crossroads, a college preparatory school in Santa Monica. She had been accepted to New York University, but decided to commit to acting over a tertiary education. Despite being a member of a well-known family, Kate strived to establish her own reputation and avoided association with her famous parents as she made her way through the industry. Towards her musical career, Kate released her debut studio album, Glorious, in 2024, reflecting her development as an actress, singer, and entrepreneur.
