Kodi Smit-McPhee (born 13 June 1996) is an esteemed Australian actor. Acclaimed for his work as a child actor, he dazzled audiences with his exceptional performances in 'The Road' (2009) and 'Let Me In' (2010). He lent his voice to the titular character in 'ParaNorman' (2012), and his filmography extends to 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' (2014), 'X-Men: Apocalypse' (2016), 'Alpha' (2018), and 'Dark Phoenix' (2019). In 2021, his performance in 'The Power of the Dog' as a troubled teenager garnered enormous praise, earning him a Golden Globe Award alongside a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He continued his acting journey, featuring in 'Disclaimer' and 'Maria' in 2024.

In his early life, Smit-McPhee grappled with ankylosing spondylitis, a form of degenerative arthritis. Despite the challenges, he ventured into acting, catching attention with his role in 'Romulus, My Father', which got him the 2007 AFI Award for Best Young Actor. His performance in 'The Road' (2009) received a Critics' Choice Award nomination for Best Young Actor. With a voice role in 'ParaNorman', he entered the animation world, and the film got nominated for the Best Animated Feature for the 2013 Academy Awards. He starred in 'A Birder's Guide to Everything', which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Smit-McPhee went on to feature in films like 'The Wilderness of James' and 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'. He also portrayed Nightcrawler in 'X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)', reprising the role in 'Dark Phoenix (2019)', and playing the central character Keda in 'Alpha' (2018). His critically acclaimed performance in 'The Power of the Dog' (2021) clearly showcased his stellar acting prowess.
