In 1975, a tragic event unfolds when eight-year-old Jean Grey accidentally unleashes her telekinetic powers, resulting in a devastating car crash that claims the life of her mother, and seemingly her father, John Grey. Luckily, during the incident, Jean instinctively forms a protective energy barrier, shielding herself from harm. Shortly after, Professor Charles Xavier arrives to guide her towards a brighter future at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. To help Jean cope with the trauma, he erases her memories of the accident, while simultaneously training her to control her growing psychic abilities.

Fast forward to 1992, the world feels the reverberations of chaos left by En Sabah Nur. The X-Men receive a distress signal from the beleaguered space shuttle Endeavour, which has suffered catastrophic damage due to a solar flare-like energy. The shuttle is spinning out of control, leaving its crew’s lives hanging in the balance. The team, consisting of Jean, Hank McCoy, Peter Maximoff, Kurt Wagner, Scott Summers, and Raven, works tirelessly to rescue the astronauts. Yet, in the process, a tense moment arises when one crew member is stranded in the airlock, and time is running out. Despite Raven’s reluctance to linger in such danger, Xavier insists on an urgent extraction. In a courageous act, Kurt and Jean venture back, successfully retrieving the astronaut. However, Jean is struck by an ominous energy cloud, which she ultimately absorbs, escalating her psychic powers beyond imagination.

As the tension mounts, Raven grows furious with Xavier, believing he has become consumed by the spotlight and is willing to endanger their lives for recognition. She confronts Hank, lamenting their reliance on Xavier’s leadership instead of forging their own paths. Meanwhile, the emotional barrier placed by Xavier on Jean is shattered, leading her to lash out during a celebration at the school, causing grievous injuries and, tragically, the death of Raven.

Seeking answers, Jean journeys to her hometown of Red Hook, New York, where she finds her father, John, alive. In a painful confrontation, she learns that he had always been aware of her survival but chose to abandon her out of fear. Betrayed and furious, Jean feels manipulated by Xavier’s secrets, leading to a confrontation with the X-Men. In her emotional turmoil, she accidentally injures Peter and ultimately loses control over her powers.

Amidst the chaos, Jean turns to Erik Lehnsherr for guidance in harnessing her abilities, but he rebuffs her, enraged at the losses she has caused. In a different twist, Vuk emerges, commanding a fleet of shape-shifting aliens known as the D’Bari, who reveal that the immense power residing within Jean is linked to a historical calamity that annihilated their home planet. Vuk entices Jean, declaring that mastering her newfound powers could elevate her to unparalleled greatness in the universe.

As the stakes escalate, Hank and a faction of mutants band together to confront Jean in New York City, driven by anguish over her recent actions. A confrontation ensues, and during a fraught moment, Jean’s mighty abilities easily best Erik. However, a flicker of hope arises as Xavier and Kurt intervene. Their determination helps Jean reconnect with her inner self, allowing her true personality to resurface amidst the chaos.

Overwhelmed with guilt, Jean pleads for Vuk to take the immense energy from her, only to discover the deadly consequences that such a transfer would entail. Meanwhile, they find themselves ambushed by U.S. government forces, equipped with advanced weaponry designed to subdue mutants. As tension peaks, Vuk’s forces strike, leading to an all-out battle where the X-Men band together to fend off the threat.

In a gripping climax, Jean discovers her inner strength, enabling her to vanquish the stifling grip of the D’Bari. Empowered, she confronts Vuk and, in a spectacular display of power, reclaims her energy in outer space, eliminating Vuk in the process. Ultimately, as Jean fully embraces her potential, she transforms into the magnificent Phoenix, radiating energy and blazing through the heavens.

In the aftermath of this iconic struggle, the school is renamed Jean Grey School for Gifted Youngsters, with Hank stepping up as the new dean while Xavier steps into retirement after a lifetime dedicated to mutant rights. Later, in a poignant moment in Paris, he reunites with Erik, agreeing to share a game of chess as a flaming phoenix ignites the sky above, symbolizing hope and the enduring bond between the two leaders.
