**Kyle Merritt MacLachlan**, born as Kyle McLachlan on February 22, 1959, is a highly recognized American actor. He is popularly known for his Emmy nominated and Golden Globe winning role as Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks and its film prequel Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. His other significant roles include Paul Atreides in Dune, Jeffrey Beaumont in Blue Velvet, Lloyd Gallagher in The Hidden, Ray Manzarek in The Doors, Cliff Vandercave in The Flintstones, Zack Carey in Showgirls and Riley's father in the Inside Out film series. His prominent roles on television include Trey MacDougal on Sex and the City, Orson Hodge on Desperate Housewives, The Captain on How I Met Your Mother and Mayor of Portland on Portlandia. Born in Yakima, Washington, Kyle has Scottish ancestry and graduated with a BFA in drama from the University of Washington. Along with acting, he made his mark in stage performances and made his Broadway debut in 2003. Despite initial hurdles in his career after Dune's failure, MacLachlan's determination paved way for his rise to global recognition. He also explored voice acting roles in notable video games like Grand Theft Auto III.
