Born on March 25, 1979, Lee Grinner Pace is an acclaimed American actor. He gained noteworthy attention for portraying Thranduil the Elvenking in The Hobbit trilogy and Joe MacMillan in the television series Halt and Catch Fire. Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pace played the role of Ronan the Accuser, making his debut in Guardians of the Galaxy and subsequently reprising the role in Captain Marvel. In 2008, his performance as Ned in the comedy-drama Pushing Daisies landed him an Emmy nomination. Currently, he is known for his role as the galactic emperor Brother Day in the Foundation television series. This series is based on the stories of Isaac Asimov and started in 2021.

Born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Pace moved to Saudi Arabia for a few years in childhood due to his father's occupation in the oil business. The family eventually moved to Houston, Texas. After attending Klein High School with fellow actor Matt Bomer, Pace attended the Juilliard School's Drama Division. Here, he was a part of several plays, including Romeo and Juliet, Richard II, and Julius Caesar. Pace had a successful theater career, appearing in several off-Broadway plays such as The Credeaux Canvas and The Fourth Sister. His first Broadway debut was the play The Normal Heart, and he also appeared in the Broadway revival of Angels in America. In films, he first gained recognition in the 2003 film Soldier's Girl where he played Calpernia Addams.
