Early in his life, Duplass was born and brought up in New Orleans, Louisiana by parents Cynthia and Lawrence Duplass, growing up with French Cajun, Italian, Ashkenazi Jewish, and German ancestry. Besides his film career, he was also the lead singer of the indie rock band Volcano, I'm Still Excited!!
