Meg Foster

**Meg Foster**, born on May 10, 1948, is a renowned American film and television actress. She catapulted to fame for her various roles, most notably in the 1979 TV miniseries version of _The Scarlet Letter_, and films such as _Ticket to Heaven_, _The Osterman Weekend_, and _They Live_. She had the honor of being the first star to play Christine Cagney in the initial season of the acclaimed TV series _Cagney & Lacey_. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, and raised in Rowayton, Connecticut, Foster garnered her acting skills at the esteemed Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York. Foster's acting career took off in 1968 when she performed in a Cornell Summer Theatre production of John Brown's Body and the off-Broadway production, _The Empire Builders_. However, her path to stardom wasn't a bed of roses. Notably, when she was replaced by Sharon Gless for the remainder of the _Cagney & Lacey_ series, it was a significant setback. Nevertheless, Foster was a force to reckon with in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, making numerous guest appearances in popular TV shows like _Hawaii Five-O_, _The Six Million Dollar Man_, _Star Trek: Deep Space Nine_, and revealing her versatility by playing diverse roles in _Hercules: The Legendary Journeys_ and _Xena: Warrior Princess_. Additionally, she showcased her talents on the big screen in the 1980s in films like _Carny_ and _Masters of the Universe_. Notwithstanding her previous personal challenges like divorce, Foster has remained a much-admired figure in the film and television industry.
