Melvin Dimas Rodríguez, often known as Mel Rodriguez, is an esteemed American actor and comedian. He rose to fame by featuring as Nurse Patsy de la Serda on the HBO comedy Getting On and as Todd Rodriguez on the Fox comedy The Last Man on Earth. He also appeared as Ernie Gomes on the Showtime drama On Becoming a God in Central Florida. Rodríguez had significant recurring roles such as Marco Pasternak on AMC's Better Call Saul as well. Apart from these, he also co-starred on the brief Fox sitcoms Running Wilde and Enlisted. Most recently in 2021, Rodriguez displayed his acting prowess in the crime television series CSI: Vegas.
Rodríguez was originally born in Miami, Florida, and was raised in the Little Havana neighborhood. In his earlier days, he pursued boxing, but was led to acting by a high school teacher at the age of 17. He entered the acting world through an AIDS awareness play called The Inner Circle along with Pedro Zamora. Despite dropping out of high school, Rodríguez was diligent and received a scholarship to the illustrious theatre arts and film conservatory at SUNY Purchase. Post-graduation, he managed a cigar shop while acting primarily in the theatre. His first screen role was in 1999 on the legal drama Law & Order, and he eventually moved to Los Angeles to focus more on the film industry. Rodriguez had his breakthrough with the recurring role of Frank on the ABC comedy series George Lopez in 2002
