Michael J. Fox

Michael Andrew Fox OC, popularly known as Michael J. Fox, is a stalwart figure in the acting world and is well-respected for his acting career that spanned over four decades and his monumental contribution to activism. Born on June 9, 1961, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Fox started his career as a successful child actor in the 1970s. Fox's charisma and charm got him significant roles in the 80s sitcom Family Ties and in the Back to the Future film trilogy. He then established his leading man status with successful films such as Teen Wolf, The Secret of My Success, Casualties of War, Doc Hollywood, and The Frighteners. After revealing in 1998 that he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991, he became a leading advocate for research into the disease, cutting back on his acting work due to worsening symptoms.

In the early 2000s, Fox provided his voice in several animated movies, including the Stuart Little film series, and continued to make guest appearances on television series such as Rescue Me, The Good Wife, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Amid realizing the impact of his health condition, Fox officially retired from acting in 2020. Respected by both peers and fans, Fox has won five Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Grammy Award. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2010 and was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2000, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002.
