Nicolas Winding Refn is a Danish film director, screenwriter, and producer, born 29 September 1970 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is known for directing movies such as the Pusher trilogy (1996–2005),the crime drama Bronson (2008), and the adventure film Valhalla Rising (2009). In 2011, the action drama film Drive, another one of his direction's won him the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Director. Other Refn's works that have gained recognition are the action film Only God Forgives (2013), and the psychological horror The Neon Demon (2016). Liv Corfixen, Refn's wife, directed a documentary, My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, centered on his life and work. Refn was also born in New York City, USA and has attended American Academy of Dramatic Arts, but was expelled for causing property damage. He co-founded a Copenhagen-based film production company, Space Rocket Nation in 2008.
