Rebel Melanie Elizabeth Wilson (born Melanie Elizabeth Bownds; 2 March 1980) is a successful Australian actress, comedian and producer. Starting her career after graduating from the Australian Theatre for Young People in 2003, Wilson made her mark in the SBS comedy series Pizza and the sketch comedy show The Wedge. She also showcased her writing and producing abilities in the musical comedy series Bogan Pride. Upon moving to the United States, Wilson made her mark in the comic world by starring in popular films like Bridesmaids and A Few Best Men. Her fame continued to grow with well-received roles in films such as What to Expect When You're Expecting and Pitch Perfect series. In 2019, Wilson demonstrated her versatility by taking on lead roles in comedies like Isn't It Romantic and The Hustle, as well as a supporting role in comedy drama Jojo Rabbit. Wilson was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, by her parents who were professional dog handlers, dog show judges and breeders. She has an active academic life where she participated in debating teams, worked in a cinema and has previously desired a career in mathematics. Indeed, she graduated from the University of New South Wales before diving into the acting world. For her impressive career, she is celebrated and seen as an inspiration.
