Richard Roxburgh (born 23 January 1962) is an acclaimed Australian actor and filmmaker, recognized with various AFI and AACTA Awards, Logie Awards, and Helpmann Awards. His illustrious career began with the Sydney Theatre Company, quickly gaining international recognition after appearing in Australian and international productions such as Baz Luhrmann's films Moulin Rouge! (2001) and Elvis (2022), the ABC series Rake (2010–2018), and action films like Mission: Impossible 2 (2000), The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003), and Van Helsing (2004). During the 90s, he demonstrated his theatrical prowess, producing critically acclaimed performances in Australian stage productions, notably in Hamlet. Roxburgh continued to develop his career in international blockbuster films and made his mark as director with Romulus, My Father starring Eric Bana. He has also innovated in children's literature, authoring and illustrating a children's adventure fiction title, Artie and the Grime Wave. His rich career spans across film, TV, theatre, and literature, proving his versatility as a creative.
