Angel of Mine

As Lizzie (played by) navigates the treacherous landscape of grief seven years after the devastating hospital fire that claimed the life of her newborn daughter, Rosie, alongside 12 other mothers and their babies, she finds herself grappling with the insidious tendrils of trauma. Her existence is now a fragile balance between processing the weight of her loss and raising her son, Thomas, whom she shares custody of with her ex-husband, Mike.

The fragile equilibrium is shattered when Lizzie attends a birthday party for her son's friend, where she encounters a young girl who bears an uncanny resemblance to Rosie. Her instincts scream that this child is indeed the reincarnation of her deceased daughter, and she becomes fixated on befriending the girl's parents, Claire and Bernard. Under the guise of interest in their for-sale home, Lizzie inserts herself into their lives, forging a connection with the couple and their sons.

Undeterred, Lizzie hatches a plan to infiltrate the family's going-away party, only to be caught and escorted out. She retreats to her car, where she plots her next move, eventually sneaking back into the party as the guests depart. Her resolve to uncover the truth leads her to conceal herself in Lola's closet, where exhaustion claims her. When she awakens, Lizzie seizes the opportunity to test her theory by taking a hairbrush from Lola's room, but Claire catches her in the act.

A violent struggle ensues, with Lizzie imploring Claire to end her life, as she'll never cease her pursuit of the truth. In a poignant moment of confession, Claire reveals that Lola is indeed her biological child, who had perished due to smoke inhalation in the fire, while Lizzie was presumed dead and found face-down on the floor. The family's secret is finally exposed, and Claire is arrested for child theft, kidnapping, and custodial interference.

As the dust settles, Lizzie finds herself preparing for her first visit with Lola, accompanied by her family. Thomas asks about their future visits, and Mike reassures him that they'll know more after Claire's trial. As Bernard brings in Lola, a tearful Claire exchanges a look of sorrow with Lizzie from the car window.
