Ronny Xin Yi Chieng (Chinese: 钱信伊; pinyin: Qián Xìnyī; born 21 November 1985), widely known as just Ronny Chieng, is a highly admired Malaysian comedian and actor, actively working in the United States. Over the years, his talent has seen him rise to senior correspondent status on Comedy Central's The Daily Show, while also creating and starring in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation sitcom Ronny Chieng: International Student. He's also ventured into the silver screen, appearing in films such as Crazy Rich Asians as Eddie Cheng—an ostentatious banker, and the English version of Inspector Sun and the Curse of the Black Widow.

Chieng was born into a Malaysian Chinese family in Johor Bahru on 21 November 1985 and was brought up in both Singapore and the United States. His early education saw him commute to Fuchun Primary School in Woodlands, Singapore from Johor Bahru, before advancing to Pioneer Secondary School and Pioneer Junior College in Jurong, Singapore. He later attended the University of Melbourne in Australia, where he graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree. His career saw him join stand-ups at varied comedy festivals, eventually landing an audition for The Daily Show in 2015, following his performance with Trevor Noah at an Australian comedy festival. He climbed the ranks notably and secured vital roles in sitcoms, films, and stand-up specials with Netflix. Chieng's artistic journey has been characterized by a unique blend of Asian and Western influence, a fusion that received overwhelming reception from the global audience.
