Sara Dögg Ásgeirsdóttir, born in December 1976, is an award-winning Icelandic actress who has had remarkable impacts in Icelandic films and TV series. Her career started as a novice when she successfully auditioned for the leading role in Hrafn Gunnlaugsson's Witchcraft at the age of 19, with no training in acting. Sara's performance in her first film earned her acclaim, winning the Best Actress award at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. She continued with her journey in acting while studying at the Iceland University of the Arts, from where she graduated in 2005. Sara Dögg Ásgeirsdóttir secured supporting roles in two additional films while pursuing acting and got a place with a theatre company in Akureyri after graduation. Despite a short break to focus on her new-born, she returned and took up different acting gigs, including the Reykjavík City Theatre and working as a flight attendant for Flugfélag Íslands. Her work in the TV series Pressa won her the 2013 Edda Award for Best Leading Actress popularizing her across the Nordic country. She took a short pause in her career to care for her children, especially during her daughter's ailment. However, she has since made a strong comeback and continued to take the lead and supporting roles in different films and TV shows. In 2024, she produced her first short documentary, Turninn, which showcased her father's tower on his land.
