Shohreh Aghdashloo

**Shohreh Aghdashloo**, an Iranian-American actress, has led a distinguished career in the film industry that dates back to her debut in 'Chess of the Wind' (1976). Though her early works were highly acclaimed, Iran banned them due to political climate. Born Shohreh Vaziri-Tabar in Tehran, she had to emigrate to England during the height of the Iranian Revolution in 1979. She eventually became a US citizen and continued to find roles in both film and television. It wasn't until her riveting performance in 'House of Sand and Fog' (2003) that she shot to international fame. This role brought her multiple film critics' awards and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Shohreh also made memorable appearances in 'The Exorcism of Emily Rose' (2005), 'X-Men: The Last Stand' and 'The Nativity Story' (both 2006), 'The Odd Life of Timothy Green' (2013), and 'Star Trek Beyond' (2016). In addition to her film career, Aghdashloo made a mark in television with roles like Dina Araz in the popular series '24' and Chrisjen Avasarala on 'The Expanse' (2015–2022). For her role in the HBO miniseries 'House of Saddam' (2008), she won a Primetime Emmy Award. Shohreh's voice can also be recognized in Netflix's 'Arcane.' She continues to hold a strong presence in the international film community, voicing the character Roshan in 'Assassin's Creed Mirage.' After moving continents and breaking barriers, Shohreh Aghdashloo has made a lasting impact as an actress and as an influential voice within the Iranian diaspora.
