Summer Bishil

Summer Yasmine Bishil is a well-regarded American actress, born on July 17, 1988. She gained prominence through her role as Jasira in the 2007 film Towelhead, and this performance secured her a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead. She would proceed to take on smaller roles in films and TV series, such as The Last Airbender in 2010 and 90210 in 2011. Bishil also starred in the short-lived ABC series Lucky 7 in 2013 before transitioning to the Syfy fantasy drama series The Magicians where she portrayed Margo Hanson from 2015 to 2020. Born in Pasadena, California, Bishil is the youngest of three siblings. Her family has diverse cultural roots, with her mother being of half-Mexican descent and her father of Indian ancestry. During her early years, the family moved to Saudi Arabia and later to Bahrain, where Bishil attended British and American schools. Facing some post-9/11 tension, the family returned to the U.S. Bishil's passion for acting began early, as she started taking lessons at the age of 14. Within a year, she was under contract with a manager and agency. Her acting journey began with roles on children's TV shows, but she saw her breakthrough in Alan Ball's film Towelhead.
