The Beatles

The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. The band comprised of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They are widely revered as the most influential band of all time and played an instrumental role in shaping the 1960s counterculture and popular music as an art form. Initially inspired by skiffle, beat, and 1950s rock 'n' roll, their sound eventually embraced elements of classical music and traditional pop. They also ventured into music styles ranging from folk and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock. This innovative amalgamation of diverse styles made them trendsetters in the music and cultural sphere of the era. The Beatles gained extensive fame and success and they were often labeled as leaders of the youth and sociocultural movements. They broke up in 1970 and each of these principal members later pursued successful solo careers. Lennon was murdered in 1980, and Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001 while McCartney and Starr continue to be musically active.
