Thomas Kretschmann, born 8 September 1962, is a renowned German actor proficient in both European and American films. His career, spanning over three decades, features notable roles in movies like Lieutenant Hans von Witzland in Stalingrad (1993), Hauptmann Wilm Hosenfeld in The Pianist (2002), Hermann Fegelein in Downfall (2004), Captain Englehorn in King Kong (2005), among others. Kretschmann also made his mark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. Aside from his striking performances, he received two nominations for the Deutscher Fernsehpreis for Best Actor and was a nominee for the European Film Award and Nika Award.

His acting journey commenced at the age of 25, featuring in many European film and television series. His performance in Der Mitwisser (1991) earned him the Max Ophüls Prize for best young actor.
