Timo Tjahjanto, born as Timothy Tjahjanto on 4 September 1980, is a talented Indonesian film director, producer, and screenwriter celebrated for his notable works mostly in the horror and action genres. He earned recognition for owning the film production company, Merah Production, and for being one half of The Mo Brothers alongside fellow filmmaker Kimo Stamboel. Timo's career began in 2007 as a freelance storyboard artist and photographer. Over his career, the director has cited influential works such as Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho and Tommy Lee Wallace's adaptation of Stephen King's It as major influences. He and Stamboel debuted with directing and writing their first feature film, Macabre, in 2009 and have since received critical acclaim and several awards.

Going beyond his directorial work, Timo also engaged in other aspects of filmmaking. In collaboration with Gareth Evans, he crafted a segment for the horror anthology film, V/H/S/2. He achieved further recognition with the supernatural horror film, May the Devil Take You, his first solo directorial venture. This film garnered positive reviews and won Timo the Maya Award for Best Director in 2018. He also initiated the first Netflix original production from Indonesia, The Night Comes for Us, which was well-received by critics. In his personal life, Timo was married to actress Sigi Wimala and they have two daughters.
