Veronica Cartwright is a British-born American actress, born on April 20, 1949. Renowned for her roles in science fiction and horror films, she has received critical acclaim, including three Emmy Award nominations for her outstanding performances. Born in England and raised in Los Angeles, Cartwright started her acting career as a child actress in 1958 in 'The Children's Hour' and 'The Birds', which served as her stepping stones to commercial success. Her adult acting career took off with the 1978's 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers'. Cartwright's performance in the acclaimed science-fiction horror film 'Alien' garnered her a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has appeared in a multitude of successful films and gained recognition late into the '90s with three nominations for the Emmy Awards. Cartwright is also known for her theater performances, having received the Drama-Logue Awards for Best Actress for her roles in 'The Hands of its Enemy', 'The Triplet Collection' and 'Homesteaders'.

In her personal life, Cartwright has had three marriages. Her first to Richard Gates from 1968 to 1972, followed by Stanley Goldstein from 1976 to 1980, and then to Richard Compton until his death in 2007. She grew up in Los Angeles with her younger sister, actress Angela Cartwright.
