Vicky Krieps is a Luxembourgish-German actress born on 4th October 1983 in Hesperange, Luxembourg. She rose to fame with American, Luxembourgish, French, and German productions, her breakout role being in the period film Phantom Thread in 2017. Some of her early films include Hanna (2011), Two Lives (2012), A Most Wanted Man (2014), and later starred in The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018), The Last Vermeer (2019), Old (2021), and The Survivor (2021). Her riveting portrayal of Empress Elisabeth of Austria in Corsage earned her the European Film Award for Best Actress.

Krieps first acting experiences were in Luxembourgish films and television series, before starring in foreign productions. Her career breakthrough was starring opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in Phantom Thread, receiving critical acclaim for her role. Her roles have not been restrained to the silver screen; Krieps also played characters in television series such as in Das Boot (2020). She continued to make her mark in drama film with performances in Hold Me Tight (2021) which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Her performance as Empress Elisabeth of Austria in Corsage, where she also served as an executive producer, was praised as the best showcase for her charisma since Phantom Thread. In 2023, she starred in the western drama The Dead Don't Hurt, wherein her performance was described as 'astonishing' by critics.
