Vincent Macaigne

Vincent Macaigne, born on 19 October 1978, is a multi-talented French actor, theatre director, and film director. He is also a popular screenwriter and esteemed playwright. Raised in Paris, Macaigne is the son of a French businessman and an Iranian-born painter. He has an elder brother who works as a forensic doctor. He attended the prestigious CNSAD (National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts) between 1999 and 2002, and staged his illustrious first play in 2004. Throughout the 2000s, he not only acted in several theatre productions but also wrote and staged a myriad of plays. Despite suffering two strokes at the age of thirty, he made it clear in an interview that the stroke has had no lasting consequences on his health. His dedication and perseverance towards his art is truly commendable. Macaigne's short film 'What We'll Leave Behind' (Ce qu'il restera de nous) won the Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and also received a nomination for the César Award for Best Short Film. In 2014, his phenomenal performance in 'La Fille du 14 juillet' earned him nominations for the César Award for Most Promising Actor and the Lumières Award for Best Male Revelation. He made his directorial feature film debut with 'Dom Juan', an adaptation of the play of the same name by Molière, and it was screened in the Cineasts of the Present section at the 2015 Locarno International Film Festival, adding another feather in his diverse career.
