**James Allen Mangold**, born December 16, 1963, is an esteemed American film director, producer and screenwriter. His versatility spans across a broad array of genres ranging from drama to superheroes. Mangold debuted as a film director with the movie *Heavy* in 1995. He's acclaimed for directing *Cop Land* (1997), *Girl, Interrupted* (1999), *Identity* (2003), *Walk the Line* (2005), *3:10 to Yuma* (2007) and two installments of the X-Men franchise; *The Wolverine* (2013) and *Logan* (2017). His exceptional work in *Logan* won him an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. He then directed *Ford v Ferrari* (2019), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. In recent years, Mangold has directed and co-wrote the fifth and final installment in the Indiana Jones series, *Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny* (2023). Born and raised in New York City, Mangold is the son of renowned artists; Robert Mangold and Sylvia Plimack Mangold. His impressive educational background includes accolades from the California Institute of the Arts (BFA) and Columbia University (MFA). In1985, Mangold started his career with a writer/director deal at Disney. His breakthrough came in 1995 with his directorial debut *Heavy* which won the best directing prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Since then, his career has been marked by remarkable and influential films in the industry. Mangold has also worked as an actor in *The Sweetest Thing* and in his own film, *Kate & Leopold*. Mangold's unique storytelling and bold directorial choices have earned him a distinguished position in the global film industry.
