Joseph Kosinski

Joseph Kosinski (born May 3, 1974) is an acclaimed American film director, primarily known for his work in computer graphics and computer-generated imagery (CGI). Particularly celebrated for action films, Kosinski's impressive portfolio includes directing esteemed movies such as Tron: Legacy (2010), Oblivion (2013), Only the Brave (2017), Top Gun: Maverick (2022), and Spiderhead (2022). Growing up in Marshalltown, Iowa, he proved early on his inherent ability in special effects, making his major debut with the visually impressive Tron: Legacy. His aptitude for creating visually stunning and unique storytelling is further evidenced with his direction of the high-grossing film Oblivion, which garnered mixed reviews but made significant impact at the box office, as well as directing Only the Brave and the sequel to Top Gun, titled Top Gun: Maverick, which marked an enormous box office success.

Kosinski's innovative style extends further with his future projects which involves working with acclaimed Hollywood figures such as Brad Pitt and Lewis Hamilton, among others, and his work has also crossed over to short films and commercials. However, his journey hasn't always been smooth with several projects failing to launch but Kosinski's perseverance in the industry shows his commitment and passion. Outside of the film industry, Kosinski's past includes academia, having been an adjunct assistant professor of architecture, educating students in 3D modeling and graphics.
