Lawrence Michael Levine

Lawrence Michael Levine, born in 1976, is known for his diverse roles in the film industry as an American actor, writer, and filmmaker. He is widely recognized for his unique contributions to Gabi on the Roof in July, Wild Canaries, and Black Bear. He initiated his filmmaking journey in 2005 with his debut film named 'Territory', which was based on his stage play of the same name. Not only did he write the screenplay, but he also produced and directed the film. His work was recognized by critic Aaron West of eFilmCritic and praised for attempting something different. The characters used were described as extraordinarily ordinary, revealing their brightest and darkest sides at different times. Levine continued his streak of creativity into 2009 with a pair of short films - The Empress and Fat Friend. In 2010, Levine again caught the critic's eye with his romantic drama/comedy Gabi on the Roof in July, resulting in a positive response. His 2014 mystery/comedy Wild Canaries, in which he also starred, received praise for capturing the joyful tone of a classic screwball comedy. His most recent film, Black Bear, featuring Christopher Abbott, Sarah Gadon, and Aubrey Plaza, continues his impressive filmography.
