Ole Bornedal, born 26 May 1959, is a highly renowned Danish film director, actor, and producer. His career has seen a diverse output, ranging from intense thrillers to historical dramas. He first stepped into the limelight with his directing and writing credits on Nattevagten (Nightwatch, 1994), a thrilling narrative about a law student working in a morgue as a night-watchman who finds himself wrapped up in a series of prostitute murders. In addition to his work on Nightwatch, Bornedal also directed I Am Dina in 2002 and delivered numerous Danish films including The Substitute (2007), Just Another Love Story (2007), and Deliver Us from Evil. His jump back to an English-language film arrived with The Possession (2012). Beyond his directorial credits, Brilliance was also a producer for the horror film Mimic. His career reached another milestone in 2014 where he wrote and directed the historical drama epic 1864, the costliest Danish TV series in history. This series, based on the Second Schleswig War, tells the tale of two brothers and further expanded the themes and genres that Bornedal has targeted in his work.
