Richard Attenborough

**Richard Samuel Attenborough**, Baron Attenborough was a renowned English actor, film director, and producer. Born on 29th August 1923 in Cambridge, he was the president of the **Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA)** and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). He served in the Royal Air Force during World War II, contributing significantly to the film unit, before proceeding to a successful acting career. Attenborough's leading roles in films like Brighton Rock (1948), The Great Escape (1963), and Jurassic Park (1993) are widely celebrated. His directorial debut, 1969's Oh! What a Lovely War, earned him a BAFTA nomination. Two of his films, Gandhi and A Chorus Line, won Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director. He was actively involved in charity work and education advocacy, besides being a lifelong supporter of Chelsea Football Club. Attenborough collected Picasso ceramics from the 1950s, and over 100 items were displayed at the New Walk Museum and Art Gallery in 2007.
