What is Duke's former profession?

Plot Summary

In the gritty underworld of Hollywood, where fortunes are made and lost in a game of high-stakes chance, “sin city” comes alive with a cast of characters that will stop at nothing to get ahead. Duke, a former actor now reduced to running a local poker game for scraps, is forced into an unlikely partnership with Sebastion (Sebastian), a pompous and cunning film director who has the Midas touch when it comes to making money.

As their high-roller poker nights escalate into absurdly large sums, the duo’s side bets become increasingly ridiculous, with wagers placed on everything from blindfolded acrobatics to long-distance shots. Sebastion, ever the wheeler-dealer, always manages to find an angle that guarantees him a winning edge, while Duke, desperate for a financial lifeline, finds himself getting in over his head.

Despite his questionable morals, Sebastion has access to a seemingly endless supply of deep-pocketed players, and he uses this advantage to build a veritable empire of ill-gotten gains. Meanwhile, Duke quietly amasses a small fortune, burying it in his backyard for safekeeping, as the stakes of their game grow ever higher.

But just when it seems like Duke has finally reached the promised land, Sebastion’s true colors are revealed in all their scheming glory. A Ponzi scheme run by his friend wipes out Duke’s entire stash, leaving him with nothing but a pile of worthless promises. The final blow comes when Sebastion reveals he never invested a dime, cackling maniacally as Duke is left with nothing.

Enraged and determined to reclaim his fortune, Duke concocts an audacious plan: he’ll walk from LA to Las Vegas in just seven days, covering 280 miles of desert highway. The bet? $1 million against Sebastion’s $5 million. As the two men pile into an RV, surrounded by an entourage of hangers-on and hustlers, the journey becomes a surreal odyssey of prop bets, double-crosses, and deception.

In the end, it’s unclear what anyone really gets – or if they deserve it. The only thing certain is that in this twisted game of high-stakes chance, everyone will ultimately get exactly what they’ve earned.
