Plot Summary

In the intricate world of Hong Kong’s criminal underground, Sung Tse-Ho (character name) reigns supreme as a senior member of a powerful triad. His operation, centered around the illicit production and distribution of counterfeit American bank notes, is a lucrative venture that has earned him both respect and trust within his organization. Ho’s most trusted ally, Mark Lee (actor name), serves as his bodyguard, business partner, and closest friend. Together, they oversee the day-to-day operations, from monitoring the printing of fresh batches to negotiating deals with foreign clients in exchange for counterfeit Hong Kong dollar notes.

Meanwhile, Ho’s younger brother, Kit, has recently completed high school and is embarking on a journey to join the police force, much to Ho’s delight. The elder sibling goes to great lengths to conceal his criminal activities from his unsuspecting brother, even as their ailing father implores him to abandon his life of crime. With a newfound sense of resolve, Ho decides that this will be his last heist before retiring from the triad after a lucrative deal in Taiwan. Shing, a low-ranking member, is taken under Ho’s wing as mentor and protégé. However, their meeting with Taiwanese triads ends in a violent shootout, prompting Ho to flee into a sewage tunnel entrance alongside Shing, pursued by local authorities. In a desperate attempt to buy time for his escape, Ho surrenders to the police, ultimately serving three years behind bars.

In the aftermath of the deal’s revelation, the triads attempt to kidnap Ho’s father as leverage to ensure his silence in prison. Tragically, their plan goes awry when Ho’s father is fatally stabbed before Kit and his girlfriend Jackie can intervene. As the dying man implores Kit to forgive his brother for past transgressions, the young officer is consumed by rage, blaming Ho for his father’s demise.

Later, Mark travels to Taiwan in search of answers from the Taiwanese triad that orchestrated the ambush. He tracks down the gangster responsible at a local eatery and exacts revenge through a violent shootout with his bodyguards. However, this act of vengeance comes at a steep price: Mark is left crippled, requiring the use of a leg brace to navigate the world.

As the stakes escalate, the lives of Ho, Mark, and Kit become increasingly entangled in a web of deceit, loyalty, and retribution that will push each character to their limits.

As Ho steps out into the vibrant cityscape of Hong Kong, freshly released from his prison sentence, he is confronted with an offer that could lead him back down a familiar path - rejoining his old triad organization. However, Ho has other plans for his life, and instead decides to start anew by taking on a job at Ken’s taxi company, a business run by another former convict. It’s during one of his shifts that he runs into an old acquaintance, Mark (actor name), who has clearly been irreparably scarred by the cruel machinations of their former triad leader, Shing. Mark’s desperation to confront Ho about his past and his current predicament is palpable, but Ho remains resolute in his determination to leave his old life behind.

Undeterred, Mark turns his attention to Kit (actor name), now a police officer, hoping to enlist his help in taking down the very man who stripped him of his position within the triad. However, Kit’s animosity towards Ho is still simmering just below the surface, stemming from Ho’s perceived role in their father’s untimely death and the perceived obstacle he poses to Kit’s own career advancement. In a bid to prove himself and distance himself further from his brother’s shadow, Kit becomes fixated on bringing Shing down, despite Ho’s warnings that such actions will only lead to more violence and suffering.

Meanwhile, Shing senses Ho’s return to Hong Kong and attempts to woo him back into the fold with promises of power and riches. However, Ho remains resolute in his refusal to rejoin the triad, and it’s not long before Shing sets his sights on Ho’s new life, orchestrating a brutal attack on Ken’s taxi company that leaves Mark battered and bruised. Kit, ever eager to prove himself, falls into Shing’s trap, leaving him critically injured.

As the stakes grow higher, Ho is eventually persuaded by Mark to take action against their former leader. They steal a crucial computer tape containing printing plate data from the counterfeiting business, revealing the extent of Shing’s operations and the true extent of his treachery. With this new information at their disposal, Ho and Mark concoct a plan to blackmail Shing, using the tape as leverage to secure financial compensation and a means of escape.

In a bold move, Ho ensures that Kit receives the incriminating evidence, knowing it will be enough to bring Shing down once and for all. With Shing now in their custody, Ho and Mark use him as a hostage, making their way to a pier where Shing’s loyal followers await. In a tense showdown, Ho implores Mark to take advantage of the escape boat on offer, but Mark is hesitant to leave without his friend by his side. It’s here that Ho must make an impossible choice - will he prioritize his own survival or risk everything for the man who once stood alongside him in the triad?

As the dust settles on Mark’s sudden departure, a new player enters the fray: Kit, whose intention is to apprehend Shing, but finds himself instead at the mercy of the ruthless villain. In a tense standoff, the two negotiate an exchange - Kit for Shing - which rapidly descends into chaos as gunfire erupts and hooves are pounded against concrete. Amidst the bedlam, Ho and Kit form an uneasy alliance against Shing’s henchmen, their efforts ultimately overwhelmed by sheer numbers. Mark, responding to the cacophony of gunfire, hastens back to the scene, only to find his companions battered and bruised, with several of Shing’s minions lying lifeless on the ground. As the mayhem subsides, Ho attempts to bridge the chasm between himself and Kit, but his overtures are met with indifference. Mark, however, intervenes, reminding Kit that Ho’s current actions serve as atonement for past transgressions. The three are momentarily united in their determination to vanquish Shing’s forces, but it is Mark who ultimately pays the ultimate price, felled by a fatal bullet to the back from the treacherous Shing.

As the authorities close in, Shing sneers at Ho and Kit, boasting that his wealth and influence will ensure a swift release upon entering police custody. Kit then hands over his firearm to Ho, allowing him to deliver a mercy killing to the vanquished villain. As Shing’s lifeless form slumps to the ground, Ho suddenly shackles himself to Kit, and the two brothers set off in tandem towards the awaiting police contingent, their shared fate sealed in handcuffs.
