A Man of No Importance 1994

In 1960s Dublin, a repressed middle-aged man, Alfie Byrne, finds solace in directing an amateur theatrical troupe and caring for his sister. However, his desire to produce Oscar Wilde's "Salome" sparks a local scandal when he casts a country girl and the object of his unrequited love, Robbie, in the production, threatening to expose his secret and upend his carefully guarded life.
