Indian Army Chief COAS General Pratap Malik (Vikram Gokhale) takes a decisive step by establishing a clandestine intelligence unit, DSD (Data Systems Diagnostics), a top-secret operation directly under his command. Colonel Abhay Singh (Manoj Bajpayee) is chosen to lead this elite team, comprising seven handpicked officers from the Indian Army. Maj. Jai Bakshi (Sidharth Malhotra), Lt. Col. Anees, and Capt. Maya Semwal (Pooja Chopra) are among Abhay's first recruits. As they conduct numerous high-profile covert operations across the globe, their reputation for precision and bravery grows.

Meanwhile, a chance telephone surveillance mission in South Block, New Delhi, uncovers a shocking revelation: Lt. Gen. Gurinder Singh (Kumud Mishra), a representative of the Indian Arms lobby and former Army officer, attempts to bribe General Malik on behalf of a Czech firm with a staggering USD $2.5 million offer. The Army Chief flatly rejects the proposal, infuriating Gurinder who reveals that he is aware of DSD's existence and operations. He threatens to expose the unit to the public, leaving General Malik alarmed and the Defence Minister unconcerned.

As tensions rise, Maj. Jai Bakshi becomes increasingly suspicious of a larger conspiracy involving the Indian Army. He conducts unauthorized telephone surveillance missions, gathering evidence that points to a massive scam. Two months of clandestine operations culminate in Jai's decision to go rogue, absconding with highly sensitive data drives from DSD HQ and fleeing India with his girlfriend, Sonia (Rakul Preet Singh), for London.

Back in India, Capt. Maya Semwal informs Colonel Abhay Singh about Jai's betrayal and the theft of classified information. Abhay springs into action, mobilizing his intelligence network to track down Jai and recover the stolen data. Through his sources, he learns of Jai's plan to escape with Sonia and launches a manhunt, raiding Jai's residence but finding nothing incriminating – not even Jai's mother is privy to his rogue activities. The stakes have never been higher as Abhay Singh and DSD face off against the rogue Maj. Jai Bakshi in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse.

As the stakes escalate, a duplicitous Army Officer, Brigadier K Srinivas (), continues to monitor Abhay's every move, feeding classified information to Lt.Gen Gurinder Singh. Meanwhile, Abhay outwits his stalker and makes a daring escape, while the DSD team abandons their office, vanishing into thin air. The Army's plan to capture Abhay having failed, Lt.Gen Gurinder Singh resorts to cunning, manipulating an influential journalist to run a smear campaign against the current Army Chief, while simultaneously touting his own successor.

In a shocking revelation, Gen. Malik personally confronts Abhay, exposing the existence of DSD, foreign involvement in Indian defense deals, and Lt.Gen Gurinder Singh's clandestine dealings with London-based arms dealer Mukesh Kapoor (Adil Hussain). The General warns Abhay that once DSD's true nature is exposed to the public, he will be branded a traitor, stripped of his Army rank, and forced into exile, along with his team.

Undaunted, Abhay vows to bring wrongdoers to justice, protecting the integrity of the Indian Army. With Brigadier Srinivas still hot on their heels, Abhay briefs his team about DSD's disavowal by the Government, alerting sources and instructing them to lay low to avoid detection. As tensions rise, Jai reaches out to Abhay, but their conversation devolves into a heated exchange, with Jai urging Abhay to flee and Abhay labeling him a coward and traitor.

Just as Brigadier Srinivas makes his move, he is thwarted in his attempt to capture the DSD team. With the situation escalating, Abhay takes flight to London, hot on the trail of Jai, while his teammates remain behind in India, readying themselves for the battles ahead.

As tensions escalate in London, Jai's menacing call to Gurinder sets off a chain reaction of fear and compliance. The cunning Jai has secretly bugged Gurinder's home, leaving him with little choice but to acquiesce to Jai's demands and transfer the funds to his accounts. Meanwhile, Abhay arrives on the scene, seeking out Tariq Bhai (Anupam Kher), a seasoned immigrant with connections to the Intelligence community. Despite their efforts, they fail to track down Jai and Sonia, but their investigation inadvertently alerts Jai to their presence. In response, he orders them to back off, only for Abhay to defy him and vow to hunt Jai down.

With options dwindling, Abhay reaches out to Mukesh Kapoor in a last-ditch effort to eliminate the problem. Coincidentally, Jai has also arranged a meeting with MI-6 officers, unaware of the impending confrontation. As Abhay reveals his knowledge of Mukesh's troubled past as an ex-Indian Army Colonel and the capture of Gurinder Singh by DSD, he successfully convinces Mukesh to take out Jai, citing the incriminating data in Jai's possession that could ruin his business.

However, Abhay has no intention of honoring his agreement with Mukesh. Instead, he secretly informs Sonia about the threat to Jai's life and instructs her to lure him into a trap. The unsuspecting Jai arrives at the designated location only to find himself in a firefight with two MI-6 agents, who ultimately meet their demise, leaving Jai wounded but determined.

When Abhay finally confronts Jai, he unleashes a brutal beating, condemning Jai as a traitor and mocking his feeble justifications. But Jai refuses to back down, pointing the finger at the Indian system for harboring corruption and eliminating those who dare to speak out against it. Abhay scoffs at this claim, but Jai fires back, highlighting the older generation's responsibility for India's rampant corruption. As the argument reaches its crescendo, Jai challenges Abhay to confront the legacy his generation will leave for the youth, prompting Abhay to reluctantly agree with his adversary.

As Mukesh's ire simmers, he seizes Tariq Bhai as leverage, intending to exact revenge. However, Jai intervenes, revealing that he possesses sensitive information regarding Mukesh Kapoor's clandestine deals and demanding a private meeting in exchange for his silence. Confronted with the prospect of his secrets being laid bare, Mukesh reluctantly agrees to Abhay's proposal.

Jai then briefs Abhay on a colossal Army housing scandal unfolding in Mumbai, involving none other than Gurinder Singh and the defense minister. He also discloses that the sole eyewitness to this debacle is Baburao Shastri (Naseeruddin Shah), a watchman who has been spirited away by Jai to a humble Delhi hotel.

Promptly, Abhay returns to India and reunites with Baburao, whose candid confession exposes the irregularities plaguing a prominent Army housing project in Colaba, Mumbai. The involvement of high-ranking bureaucrats and Army officers, all under Gurinder Singh's guidance, is revealed through Baburao's testimony. Abhay meticulously records these revelations and entrusts them to his influential journalist ex-girlfriend, who had previously crossed paths with Gurinder.

This journalist, poised to break the story, vows to run Gurinder's exposé tomorrow, but Abhay requests that she first verify both accounts before committing to publication. The journalist heeds Abhay's advice, listening to both stories and ultimately decides to prioritize Abhay's narrative, choosing to reveal the Army's housing scam to the world.

In a stunning turn of events, Brigadier Srinivas successfully apprehends all DSD members, only to free a captured Gurinder Singh – but it's too late. The exposure of the Army's housing scandal absolves the DSD of wrongdoing, and Gurinder, overcome with shame, takes his own life.

As Abhay continues his duties with unwavering dedication, Jai makes a final appearance before vanishing into the shadows, leaving behind a trail of truth and accountability.
