Plot Summary

Two years after the events of the original film, Nick Persons (played by Kevin James) has traded in his bachelor pad for married life with Suzanne Kingston. He’s made significant changes to his lifestyle, having sold his sports memorabilia store to trusted friend Marty and upgraded his vehicle to a sleek 2007 Cadillac Escalade, following a minor mishap that rendered his Lincoln Navigator unusable.

As Nick adjusts to his new role as husband and soon-to-be father, Suzanne reveals she’s pregnant with twins, prompting the couple to seek a more spacious living arrangement. They meet Chuck Mitchell Jr., an unconventional local real estate agent/contractor, who presents them with a fixer-upper in the suburbs. Despite initial reservations from their children, Kevin and Lindsey, Nick decides to take the plunge and purchase the property.

However, it soon becomes apparent that Nick’s impulsive decision has consequences. He fails to have the house inspected before moving in, and they’re met with a mold infestation that threatens to disrupt their lives. Chuck, who had initially presented himself as a reliable ally, proves to be more of a liability than an asset. His well-intentioned but haphazard efforts to fix the issues only exacerbate the problems, leading Nick to fire him in frustration.

Meanwhile, Lindsey, now a teenager herself, begins to assert her independence by sneaking out to attend a party with Chuck’s teenage employees. When Nick discovers her disobedience, he grounds her, further straining the family dynamics. Suzanne, feeling overwhelmed, decides to relocate their children and herself into the guest house, leaving Nick to confront the reality of his mistakes.

As Nick grapples with the consequences of his actions, he begins to regret his decision to fire Chuck. A sudden revelation about his wife’s passing adds an extra layer of complexity to his emotional state. Chuck, sensing Nick’s vulnerability, takes it upon himself to make amends and reunites Nick with a team of sympathetic contractors who are willing to help him fix the house.

As Suzanne’s contractions intensify and the hospital remains tantalizingly out of reach, her loved ones spring into action to bring new life into the world. Nick, Kevin, and Lindsey must assume the roles of makeshift medical professionals, their nerves stretched taut as they navigate the unpredictable terrain of childbirth. Meanwhile, Chuck’s well-intentioned efforts to arrive on the scene are foiled by a stubborn truck breakdown, prompting him to embark upon an arduous power walk down the driveway. Amidst the chaos, Nick’s phone rings with an unexpected caller - none other than Magic Johnson himself. As Suzanne finally gives birth to identical twin boys, the stage is set for a heartwarming six-month journey that culminates in a lively backyard BBQ. And in a surprise twist, Nick takes the opportunity to unveil his latest creative endeavor: “Are We Done Yet?”, a magazine born from the trials and tribulations of building their dream home.
