Who plays the character of Malcolm Turner, also known as Big Momma?

Plot Summary

As Malcolm Turner (Martin Lawrence) settles into his new role in public relations, he’s forced to trade in his undercover credentials for a desk job. The impetus behind this change is his desire to be present for the arrival of his newborn son with his wife, Sherry Pierce (Nia Long). However, fate has other plans when an old friend, Doug Hudson (Kirk B.R. Woller), meets a tragic end while working undercover. This sudden turn of events prompts Malcolm’s colleague, FBI agent Kevin Keneally (Zachary Levi), to go undercover himself, monitoring the activities of former U.S. Army military intelligence specialist Tom Fuller (Mark Moses). As it turns out, Tom has been developing a computer worm designed to infiltrate the databases of all government branches, posing a significant national security threat.

Despite his friend’s untimely passing, FBI chief Crawford (Dan Lauria) remains skeptical of Malcolm’s request to join the investigation, citing concerns for his safety. Undeterred, Malcolm uses his unique skills to gather intel by hacking into the webcam feed from Tom’s residence, where he learns that the FBI plans to send one of their own undercover agents to infiltrate Tom’s household posing as a nanny. With Sherry attending a conference in Phoenix, Arizona, Malcolm seizes the opportunity to leave for Orange County and don his iconic “Big Momma” disguise.

Reprising his role from the original film, Big Momma arrives at Tom’s residence as Mrs. Fuller, interviewing prospective nannies who are promptly eliminated due to their questionable credentials. As she settles into her new surroundings, Big Momma meets Tom’s three children: Molly (Kat Dennings), Carrie (Chloë Grace Moretz), and Andrew. Despite initial struggles with household chores, Big Momma is ultimately fired and spends the night transforming the space from chaotic to spotless. Her impressive work ethic impresses Mrs. Fuller, who reconsiders her decision to hire a new nanny.

As Big Momma becomes an integral part of the family’s daily routine, she accompanies Mrs. Fuller to the spa, takes the kids to the beach, keeps a watchful eye out for trouble, and even participates in a game of bingo. Little does Big Momma know that this seemingly ordinary life is merely a ruse, allowing her to gather crucial intel and stay one step ahead of Tom’s nefarious plans.

As the password’s secrets are unlocked, Big Momma (Martin Lawrence) receives an urgent summons from Molly, only to discover that she has been expertly entangled in a web of deceit spun by Fuller’s ruthless bosses. Without hesitation, Big Momma springs into action, racing to the nightclub where Molly was lured, and finds himself bound alongside her, helplessly trapped in the back of a van. But our resourceful hero refuses to be silenced, using his trusty switchblade to free them both from their restraints.

As they survey their surroundings, Big Momma’s keen eyes take in the waterfront vista, where Tom (Brandon T. Jackson) is caught on camera, clandestinely handing over a crucial data disc to a mysterious figure. This development sets off alarm bells in Big Momma’s mind, and he quickly commandeers a jet ski, expertly guiding it onto the dock with a precision that sends two unsuspecting goons flying. As the chaos unfolds, Big Momma takes down one of his assailants and helps Tom escape, but not before the latter is struck by a bullet meant for our hero.

Just as all hope seems lost, the FBI arrives on the scene, and Agent Keneally (John Leguizamo) is about to cuff Tom, only for Malcolm (Peter Steinfeld) to intervene, revealing that Tom’s family has been threatened and persuading Keneally to drop the charges. With justice served, Big Momma bids farewell to his friends and disappears into the night, leaving behind a cryptic letter warning them that he may one day return.

Months later, Big Momma surprises everyone by stepping in as stuntwoman for the girls’ state cheerleading championships, expertly filling the void left by their injured routine specialist. As the team takes top honors, Big Momma’s athletic prowess is on full display, and though he eventually departs with a hint of mischief in his eyes, it becomes clear that this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him.
