Struggling to cope with the devastating loss of their only child, Molly, Ben and Hazel Slater decide to embark on a journey to reshape their lives. They take on the challenge of renovating a beautiful hotel set against the stunning backdrop of Ireland’s rugged west coast. Yet, this picturesque location is rife with bittersweet memories that linger painfully.

Ben finds himself haunted by the phrase “Seas the day,” which seems to appear everywhere he looks. As he grapples with vivid recollections of a joyful summer day spent on the nearby beach constructing sandcastles adorned with little red flags, it dawns on him that unknown forces may be at play. What could those words signify? Perhaps a simple mistake meant to convey “Seize the day”? Or could it be a message from a realm beyond this life?

In a poignant moment, Ben awakens from a troubled sleep clutching a tiny red flag, leading him to believe that if he could grasp the flag in his dream, he might also be able to reclaim his daughter. However, reality proves far more complex than his desperate hopes. The arrival of Hazel’s troubled best friend, Serena, casts a shadow of fear over Ben that the harsh truths surrounding their daughter’s death will come to light.

As Ben’s grip on reality begins to fray and those around him question his sanity, his determination to unravel the mystery only deepens. He is resolute in his quest to bring Molly back home, led by a fierce never-give-up attitude. As the pieces of this complex puzzle begin to align, Ben is simultaneously presented with an opportunity to achieve his deepest desire, albeit at a cost that weighs heavily on his heart.

Ultimately, during his last dream, Ben uncovers the truth about the scar he bears—an injury sustained when a boat named “Seas the Day” struck him while he swam in the ocean. In another version of reality, he recognizes that had he allowed himself to perish that day, certain tragedies could have been avoided: his infidelity with Hazel, Molly’s tragic accident, and Serena’s overwhelming guilt that drove her to despair.

The poignant finale unfolds post-Ben’s funeral, where Hazel is seen preparing to leave their home behind. With Serena by her side, they pack their belongings into the car. However, their dog unexpectedly rushes back inside, leading Hazel upstairs, where she uncovers a tiny red flag resting silently on the windowsill, echoing the haunting memories of love and loss.
