In the celestial realm of Heaven, a nightclub singer named Lola is sent on a perilous quest by her boss, Marina, to salvage the troubled soul of Manny, a Spanish boxer whose career has been left in tatters due to severe brain damage. His last fight left him vulnerable, and now, any hit could send him spiraling into darkness. With mounting financial troubles pushing him toward despair, Lola takes on the guise of his estranged wife, determined to reignite Manny’s spirit by reconnecting him with his mother. Yet, she faces a formidable challenge from Manny’s chauvinistic nature that values boxing, food, and transient pleasures above all else.

Simultaneously, in the fiery depths of Hell, the waitress Carmen is tasked by her boss, Davenport, with a secret mission to invigorate Manny’s fighting spirit. She adopts the disguise of his cousin, moving into his flat to become part of his life. While Lola embodies the traits of humility and devotion, Carmen presents a stark contrast with her vibrant sexuality and flamboyant nature, adding an air of mystery to their shared mission. Together, they both take on lowly jobs at a hypermarket, bonding over their disdain for the oppressive management and empathizing with the downtrodden employees.

Complicating matters, Manny is relentlessly pursued by a pair of thugs sent by a corrupt police chief to whom he owes a significant debt. As Lola strives to delay the inevitable fall of Manny, Carmen sweetly urges him to reclaim his boxing success as a means to settle his debts and escape his guilt. She presents a compelling argument: if Manny regains his triumph in the ring, he can clear his debts and liberate himself from his overwhelming despair.

Back in Hell, Davenport is under immense pressure, as infighting among the management threatens his position. In an attempt to regain control, he cultivates a secret alliance with Marina, with whom he shares a mutual admiration. Their argument is simple yet profound: one cannot exist without the other; therefore, humanity on Earth deserves the freedom of choice. In a rare moment of leniency, Davenport decides to allow Manny a chance at redemption, instructing Carmen to work alongside Lola rather than undermine her efforts.

As tension escalates, the two women devise a bold plan to steal money from the hypermarket, which they aim to use to pay off Manny’s debts and liberate him from his boxing obligations. Armed and determined, they storm the cashier’s office but are met with a hail of gunfire from management officials as they attempt to escape the chaos around them. Though Lola and Carmen manage to flee with the stolen cash, their victory is short-lived. Upon returning to Manny’s apartment, they are met by the corrupt police chief, who has laid a deadly trap. In a harrowing twist of fate, Manny sacrifices himself to help the women escape, ultimately succumbing to his injuries as a result of the law’s brutality.

In the aftermath of this selfless act, Manny ascends to the celestial realm, reaping the rewards of his moral courage. However, his companions, Lola and Carmen, face a starkly different fate. They find themselves imprisoned within a dreary Spanish jail, where they must grapple with the harsh consequences of their actions.

Years later, when Carmen is finally released from her earthly shackles, she receives an unexpected gift from the powers of the underworld. No longer confined to her previous role as a waitress, she is elevated to a position of notable status in Hell, far beyond her wildest dreams. To her astonishment, she is granted a transformation back into a man, signaling the dawn of a new and exciting chapter in her unending journey.
