In the bustling 1990s, two vibrant university art students, Xu Lai and Yang Yi, experienced a transformative romance that would leave an indelible mark on Xu’s soul. However, the twisting fate had its schemes, as Yang was abruptly swept away to the prestigious Chinese University of Hong Kong, placing a heavy cloud of longing over Xu that deepened with each passing year. Fast forward twenty years later, and Xu’s once-bold artistic ambitions had faded into a mundane daily routine, his passionate memories of Yang tucked away in the dusty corners of his mind.

Even though Xu now enjoys a comfortable life with his caring wife, Cai Bo, who brings warmth and steadfast support, a void remains unfilled—a desire for the fiery love he once had with Yang that echoes through his heart. The yearning for a family of their own weighed heavily on his spirit, hinting at the past’s unresolved emotions.

As destiny would have it, Xu embarked on a vacation to Hong Kong with his lively wife’s family. Within the whirlwind of family chaos and well-meaning yet meddling relatives, Xu saw a chance to reconnect with Yang. However, this pursuit was complicated by the incessant presence of Cai’s goofy younger brother, Cai Lala](/actor/bao-bei-er), who was forever armed with his camera, obsessively documenting every moment for his latest project. Xu’s plans to revive old flames quickly unraveled as a murder investigation unfolded, driven by two persistent police officers, Sam Lee and Eric Kot. Unbeknownst to Xu, one of these officers began unraveling a connection that linked Xu’s otherwise peaceful life to the burgeoning crime, threatening to upend everything he held dear.

In this poignant narrative, the threads of love, longing, and unexpected consequences intertwine, casting Xu into a storm of emotions that could change the course of his life forever.
