As Russell navigates the complexities of his sixteenth year, he finds himself caught between fleeting romances with several girls and a burgeoning connection with football star Kevin. Their relationship takes a turn when Min, during a school trip, unexpectedly discovers a secret kiss between the two. In response, she reaches out to Russell and offers him a place in an LGBT support group, disguised as a Geography Club within the confines of the school. This intimate group, which includes Min, Therese, and Ike, is not without its own secrets, as each member struggles to embrace their authentic identities.

As Russell immerses himself deeper in the club’s solidarity, he receives an invitation to an uncomfortable dinner at Kevin’s family residence following a victorious football match. The evening is steeped in tension, with Kevin’s father interrogating both boys while Russell grapples with his simmering emotions. Meanwhile, Russell’s best friend Gunnar presses Kevin to accompany him on a trip with girls, further widening the emotional rift between him and Russell.

As the weeks pass, members of the Geography Club find solace and unwavering support in one another amidst various challenges. However, when Russell gives in to peer pressure and bullies a fellow club member, the group rallies to confront him about his actions, urging him to take responsibility. Whispers begin to circulate about Russell’s supposed removal from the football team due to his “nonconformity,” which strains his relationships with his peers further.

Min wisely proposes that it’s time for the club to publicly embrace their identities, yet the thought sends waves of anxiety through many members. In a pivotal moment, Kevin meets Russell to express his regret regarding the football team’s decision, only to be confronted with a tough ultimatum: join the Geography Club or risk losing Russell completely.

As the turmoil begins to settle, Gunnar and Russell reconcile, paving the way for the club to embark on their journey towards open acknowledgment. With Kevin observing from a distance, Russell stands confidently, inviting students to the school’s first-ever Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) meeting. This momentous occasion is set to redefine not only Russell’s life but also the lives of those around him, marking a significant step towards acceptance and understanding.
