Plot Summary

In Japan, the behemoth known as Godzilla is viewed as an unstoppable natural phenomenon. The Godzilla Prediction Network (GPN), a self-sufficient organization, dedicates itself to monitoring and predicting the monster’s terrestrial appearances. Simultaneously, the Crisis Control Intelligence (CCI) team uncovers a 60-million-year-old unidentified flying object (UFO) deep within the Japan Trench. As CCI endeavors to recover and study this ancient relic, it unexpectedly takes to the skies on its own. Godzilla descends upon a village, only to engage in a fierce battle with the newly equipped Japan Self Defense Forces, now armed with formidable Full Metal Missiles. However, a UFO emerges from the chaos, driven by an insatiable thirst for genetic information unique to Godzilla. The two entities clash, forcing Godzilla to retreat beneath the waves and leaving the UFO to recharge its solar power.

Yuji Shinoda, the visionary founder of the GPN, makes a groundbreaking discovery regarding Godzilla’s regenerative properties - Organizer G1 in the Japanese version, Regenerator G1 in the North American release. Mirroring this achievement is the UFO, which breaks free from the JSDF’s containment efforts and sets its sights on Shinjuku. As it lands atop Tokyo Opera City Tower, the UFO commences a digital scavenger hunt, plundering Tokyo’s master computers for information about Godzilla. In response to this digital intrusion, the atmosphere surrounding the tower begins to alter its oxygen content, prompting CCI to deploy explosive charges in an attempt to neutralize the threat. Shinoda narrowly avoids the blast and joins his peers on a nearby rooftop, observing the UFO with a mix of awe and trepidation.

As if in response to humanity’s scrutiny, the UFO broadcasts a chilling message of invasion and the creation of a new “thousand-year kingdom” on Earth. Shinoda subsequently reveals that the extraterrestrial entities are hell-bent on acquiring the regenerative properties contained within Godzilla’s DNA, intending to utilize this powerful force to revitalize their own bodies.

As Godzilla makes its appearance once more, it’s met with a familiar foe: the UFO. But this time around, the extraterrestrial invader proves to be more than just a nuisance - it’s a formidable opponent that subdues Godzilla and absorbs some of its DNA. The aliens use this genetic material to reform themselves outside their spaceship as the gargantuan Millennian, a creature that seems to embody the very essence of Godzilla itself. However, the Millennian’s attempt to harness Godzilla’s power ultimately backfires, resulting in a grotesque mutation known as Orga. As Godzilla recovers from its initial defeat, it sets its sights on both the UFO and its monstrous offspring.

Orga, having absorbed the regenerative properties of Godzilla’s DNA, proves to be an almost indestructible foe. It retaliates by extracting even more of Godzilla’s genetic material, using it to create a perfect clone of itself. Enraged, Godzilla breaks free from its restraints and unleashes a devastating blast of atomic breath, incinerating Orga’s upper body and ultimately claiming its life. Meanwhile, back at the CCI headquarters, the authorities are left stunned as their leader, Mitsuo Katagiri (character), meets his untimely demise when Godzilla’s rampage inadvertently destroys the roof of the building where he was observing the battle alongside Shinoda.

As the dust settles, those remaining on the rooftop are left to ponder the true nature of Godzilla and its connection to humanity. It’s a theme that resonates deeply with Shinoda, who suggests that “Godzilla exists in us” - a haunting reminder that our creations can often take on a life of their own. And as Tokyo descends into chaos, it becomes clear that Godzilla is no longer just a monster - it’s a manifestation of humanity’s darker impulses, brought to life through the very same ambition and hubris that created it.
