Plot Summary

As the dust settles on his recently terminated employment, Roni (Alon Aboutboul) embarks on a poignant journey to rekindle a long-forgotten romance. With a ticket to the United States as part of his severance package, he sets out to find Rachel (Suzanne Sadler), whose milestone 60th birthday is just around the corner. His first port of call is his car leasing agent brother, who provides him with a reliable set of wheels and sends him off on his quest.

However, fate has other plans as Roni’s vehicle breaks down, leaving him stranded on the side of the road. Enter Myla (Naruna Kaplan de Macedo), an auto mechanic turned filmmaker, who offers to lend a helping hand in exchange for an interview about regrets for her documentary project. Roni agrees, and the unlikely duo sets off together in Myla’s trusty van, bound for Rachel.

As they traverse the open road, their path is marked by unexpected detours, including a fateful encounter at a roadside motel that leaves them dressed in rustic western attire after a robbery gone wrong. The pair parts ways at the Canadian border when Myla realizes she’s left her passport behind, leaving Roni with her camera and an unprecedented opportunity to complete her film on one condition: that Myla asks her parents about their regrets.

As the journey unfolds, Roni finally tracks down Rachel at her 60th birthday celebration, where he makes a surprise appearance as a mystery guest. The rekindling of their romance is tempered by the revelation that Rachel is facing an untimely demise due to a terminal illness. Roni dedicates his final days with her, and upon her passing, he completes Myla’s film by capturing a heartwarming reunion between her and her estranged parents.

The narrative concludes with a poignant screening of Myla’s documentary at a local theater, attended by her tearful parents, Roni, his brother, and his nephew – a testament to the power of love, regret, and forgiveness.
