In what year does the film Jason X take place?
As midnight welcomed in 2008, Jason Voorhees, a notorious mass murderer, found himself captured by the United States government and confined within the Crystal Lake Research Facility. Despite extensive efforts over the following two years to eliminate him, each attempt failed miserably. Dr. Rowan LaFontaine, the head scientist at the facility, devised a bold plan: cryogenic stasis. Alongside Dr. Wimmer and Sergeant Marcus, they aimed to uncover the mysteries behind Jason’s remarkable ability to recover from fatal injuries with shocking rapidity. Unfortunately, their scheme was thwarted when Jason managed to break free, unleashing a horrific wave of vengeance against the soldiers and Dr. Wimmer. In a desperate bid to reason with him, Rowan was irresistibly drawn into a cryogenic pod, which Jason then shattered with his machete, fatally wounding her in the process. The chaos ended with both Rowan and Jason encapsulated in cryogenic fluid, frozen in time.
Fast-forward to the year 2455, when humanity has long abandoned their devastated home planet, opting for a new world known as Earth II. A courageous crew of explorers, consisting of Professor Brandon Lowe, his android partner KM-14, intern Adrienne Thomas, and several students—Tsunaron, Janessa, Azrael, Kinsa, Waylander, and Stoney—embarked on a field trip back to the now desolate Crystal Lake Research Facility. During their exploration, they came across the frozen forms of Jason and Rowan. Initially doubtful about Jason’s status, the group decided to revive Rowan while leaving Jason in stasis, presuming he was dead.
As tensions rose aboard their ship, the Grendel, Adrienne was tasked with examining Jason’s remains. Alarmingly, Rowan stepped in to caution her colleagues regarding the hidden dangers associated with Jason. Burdened by debt, Lowe contacted his financial backer, Dieter Perez, who was stationed at a nearby facility, Solaris. Recognizing Jason’s name, Perez saw an opportunity for a lucrative deal involving a collector.
Amid this atmosphere, Stoney and Kinsa’s illicit affair unfolded, unmindful of the lurking peril. However, Jason soon awakened from his long slumber, retaliating swiftly by freezing Adrienne’s face with liquid nitrogen before ruthlessly killing her, all while Kinsa looked on in horror. He then gruesomely dispatched Stoney with his machete-shaped surgical tool, creating an atmosphere of terror.
The Grendel spiraled into chaos as Sergeant Brodski led a team of soldiers to subdue Jason, but their attempts were utterly futile. Jason wreaked havoc aboard the ship, even attacking holographic projections and violently damaging his foes. After brutally eliminating several soldiers, Jason continued his rampage, culminating in the gruesome death of Lou while the ship’s trajectory diverted chaotically towards Solaris, leaving destruction in its wake. In the aftermath, Lowe met his demise, while Jason sought to reclaim his beloved machete and satisfy his thirst for revenge by decapitating a former commander.
As the few remaining survivors scrambled for an escape, Kinsa’s desperate actions led to a catastrophic shuttle crash that decimated the crew. In a race against time, Tsunaron worked relentlessly to upgrade KM-14, arming her for a fierce confrontation with Jason. Her combat enhancements only escalated the battle as Jason continued his lethal rampage, resulting in tragic losses, including Crutch’s untimely death.
The survivors made a desperate distress call while simultaneously setting charges to detach what remained of the main vessel. Just when they believed they were secure, Tsunaron returned, now with an upgraded KM-14, ready for a showdown against Jason’s unyielding fury. The cyborg’s resilience was bolstered by nanotechnology, allowing for superhuman strength utilized in a fierce struggle against Jason.
Amid recovery and planning, the survivors faced insurmountable odds. As Jason continued his violent pursuit, Waylander sacrificed himself for the group’s survival, and tragically, Janessa succumbed to the harsh conditions of space. In a bold strategy, Brodski ventured outside in an EVA suit to mend the docking door, buying precious time for the others. His struggle against Jason led them both to plummet towards Earth II’s atmosphere, where they would be incinerated upon reentry.
Surviving the calamity, Tsunaron, Rowan, and KM-14 managed to escape, with Tsunaron assuring her companion that she would find a new form. Meanwhile, back on Earth II, two unsuspecting teenagers spotted what they assumed to be a falling star near a lake. Their fleeting wonder was quickly eclipsed as Jason’s charred mask sank silently into the lake’s depths, serving as a chilling reminder of the terrors hidden in the shadows.
