Dimple Chaddha, played by Parineeti Chopra, is a pampered and headstrong daughter of Sandeep Chaddha, the influential CEO of “Chaddha Industries” in Delhi. Her life takes a turn when her boyfriend, Sunny Singh, portrayed by Ranveer Singh, deceives her father into believing his affections are genuine. However, the very next day, Sunny allows his emotions to get the better of him and vandalizes an old bungalow, only to explain to Dimple that it belongs to his deceased father and that he is in danger of losing it due to heavily owed taxes. Moved by his plight, Dimple persuades her father to intervene and help Sunny reclaim his family property. Unbeknownst to them, the tenants of that bungalow possess a stay order and have been embroiled in a lengthy court dispute, meaning Sunny has been nothing short of a con artist.
As Dimple’s heart shatters upon discovering the truth, she sets out on a quest to find Sunny, who conveniently boards a flight to Mumbai, reveling in the riches gained from deceiving her father. Fast forward to the present day, and we meet Ricky, who is now working in Mumbai as a janitor. He becomes enmeshed in Raina Parulekar’s life, played by Dipannita Sharma, a determined businesswoman within a prestigious PR firm called Synergy Services. Tasked with acquiring an elusive painting by M.F. Hussain, Raina finds herself drawn to Ricky, who adopts the persona of “Deven Shah,” an art connoisseur pretending to help her secure the sought-after artwork.
Through a series of manipulations, Raina is tricked into a phone negotiation with the real owner, who turns out to be Ricky in disguise. After unintentionally misleading her boss into a transactional mess, Raina finds herself publicly humiliated and subsequently fired. Desperate for answers, she exposes Deven Shah’s deception to the press. Dimple catches wind of this scandal and grows suspicious of Ricky’s true identity—could he really be Sunny? When Raina connects the dots, it becomes clear that Sunny Singh is masquerading as Deven Shah in a web of lies.
Their quest for justice leads to a conversation with Saira Rashid, portrayed by Aditi Sharma, a grieving widow who shares her own experience of being conned by a man named Iqbal Khan. Determined to confront their shared conman—dubbed “Bloody Kameena”—the girls unite, utilizing Raina’s hacker friend to trace Ricky’s unique caller tune, ultimately locating him in Goa under the alias “Diego Vaz.”
To execute their con, Raina recruits Ishika, an astute and charming saleswoman who poses as the daughter of an NRI tycoon keen on investing in a restaurant business. As the plan unfolds in Goa, Ishika gradually finds herself genuinely falling for Ricky, complicating matters as she grapples with betraying her friends or staying true to her newfound love.
When Ricky discovers he has been outsmarted, his heart aches not just for his own schemes but also for the emotional toll he’s exacted on others. Admitting his feelings for Ishika, he confesses his true identity as a conman and reveals his desire to leave that life behind to build a future with her. But as Ricky’s past continues to shadow him, the girls remain skeptical of his intentions, leading him to concoct another ruse with Ishika’s father’s involvement in purchasing property.
In a shocking twist, they learn that the property Ricky sold is essentially worthless, a deliberate scam that entangles both Ishika and the girls. Stricken with betrayal, the trio turns against Ishika, taking their frustrations out on her. Returning to Mumbai, a changed Ricky confronts the girls to make amends, sharing the stolen money and promising to embrace a life of honesty.
Their story culminates in a heartfelt reunion between Ricky and Ishika. He travels to Mumbai to propose to her, and the film concludes with the revelation of his true name, Ricky Bahl, sealing their love with a kiss as the music swells in the background.
