In a stunning turn of events, Dr. Benjamin Trace (founder of virtual reality) finds himself on the losing end of a legal battle, his patent for the revolutionary Chiron Chip - touted as the ultimate operating system capable of controlling all others - denied. This powerful technology, in the wrong hands, poses an existential threat to a world increasingly reliant on computers. Corporate mogul Jonathan Walker (virtual reality entrepreneur), now the driving force behind the chip's development, stumbles upon Jobe Smith, a seemingly lifeless individual who was barely clinging to existence after the destruction of Virtual Space Industries. Resuscitated and reassembled, Jobe is hooked up to their database with the aim of leveraging his unique expertise to fine-tune the Chiron Chip.

Six years pass, and Peter Parkette, now 16, has evolved into a skilled computer hacker, eking out a living in the subterranean world of cyberpunk Los Angeles alongside a group of fellow runaway teens. As they navigate the labyrinthine tunnels, Jobe, now reconnected to Cyberspace, reaches out to Peter through their shared virtual realm. With Peter's assistance, Jobe tracks down Dr. Trace, who has retreated to a desert hideout, and implores him to reveal the secrets surrounding the Egypt link - a hidden Nano routine embedded within the Chiron Chip's design. However, when Trace refuses to divulge this information, citing Jobe's instability, the enraged cyber-phenom unleashes his wrath upon the city by hacking into the subway system's computer, orchestrating a catastrophic collision between two trains. Miraculously, Dr. Trace intervenes, redirecting the onrushing train into a nearby construction site.

Meanwhile, Walker and his team at Virtual Light Industries are poised to unveil the Chiron Chip's capabilities and the virtual city it promises to bring forth. However, Walker harbors ulterior motives for the technology - specifically, he seeks to utilize it for espionage and coercion. Jobe, now a puppet in Walker's hands, is dispatched to eliminate any obstacles that might impede their plans. This includes orchestrating the crash of a plane carrying a senator opposed to the chip's launch, as well as eliminating individuals who dare to get too close to the truth through virtual reality.

As Trace, Peter, and their allies attempt to infiltrate Virtual Light Industries to steal the Chiron Chip, they find themselves on the receiving end of Jobe's wrath. Just as all hope seems lost, Dr. Cori Platt, Trace's former partner and lover, bursts onto the scene, rescuing them from certain doom. The stage is now set for a high-stakes battle between those who seek to harness the power of the Chiron Chip for their own purposes and those who will stop at nothing to prevent its misuse.

As the stakes escalated, Walker's team discovered a shocking twist: the supposedly stolen Chiron Chip was merely a decoy, while the real chip remained safely stored in Walker's office, poised to unleash its devastating potential. Unbeknownst to them, Jobe had already exploited the chip's capabilities, unleashing chaos upon the world by hacking into financial systems, automated teller machines, and vital infrastructure, all in an effort to bring about catastrophic destruction that would supposedly pave the way for his own virtual messianic rise.

Determined to put a stop to Jobe's malevolent plans, Walker led the charge against his former creation. However, he ultimately fell victim to his own security detail, succumbing to a hail of gunfire as they mistook him for a threat.

Meanwhile, back at Virtual Light Industries, Trace revealed that the mysterious Egypt link was actually an ingenious failsafe designed to prevent the misuse of ultimate power. Unbeknownst to Jobe, this link had been cleverly built around without his knowledge or consent. As the team converged on Jobe's virtual metropolis in a desperate bid to snap him out of his destructive trance, the "Egypt" function suddenly kicked in, ravaging the virtual world and reducing Jobe to his original, intellectually impaired state.

As the dust settled, Peter paid a visit to the subdued Jobe, only for Walker – wounded and desperate – to take Peter hostage, attempting to bargain for the precious chip. However, Jobe's quick thinking allowed Trace to strike, causing Walker to fall victim to exposed wiring that ultimately proved fatal.

In the aftermath of this chaos, Peter and their companions collected a subdued Jobe as they headed back home, forever changed by their harrowing experience.
